Detroit, MI - Bobby Abreu went 2-for-4, knocked in a run and scored two runs as the New York Yankees topped the Detroit Tigers, 5-2, in the second of a three-game series at Comerica Park. The teams have split the first two games of the weekend set, with the Tigers taking a 6-5 win on Friday. Derek Jeter went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and scored twice for the Yankees, who snapped a six-game losing streak at Detroit. Jason Giambi, Melky Cabrera and Wilson Betemit all drove in runs for New York. Darrell Rasner (2-0) picked up the win after holding the Tigers to two runs on four hits in six-plus innings. Kyle Farnsworth, Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera combined for three scoreless innings, with Rivera notching his 10th save. Matt Joyce hit his first major league homer for the Tigers, who have lost seven of nine. Magglio Ordonez went 2-for-4, and Gary Sheffield added a run-scoring double. Jeremy Bonderman (2-4) lasted just four-plus frames, allowing five runs on six hits while issuing four walks.

Cleveland, OH - Grady Sizemore went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBI as the Cleveland Indians crushed the Toronto Blue Jays, 12-0, in the second of a four-game set at Progressive Field. Victor Martinez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored while Asdrubal Cabrera added two RBI and two runs scored for the Indians, who have won four of their last five games. Aaron Laffey (1-2) was solid over seven innings of work as he gave up six hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Dustin McGowan (2-3) was slapped for nine runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work for the Blue Jays, who have dropped their last three games.

St. Petersburg, FL - Scott Kazmir tossed six effective innings and outdueled the previously unbeaten Joe Saunders helping the Tampa Bay Rays to a 2-0 triumph over the Los Angeles Angels. Kazmir (1-1) rebounded nicely in his second start of the season since coming off the disabled list, allowing just three hits. He did walk three but struck out six helping the Rays set a franchise-record with their eighth consecutive home win. Troy Percival earned his eighth save of the year after a perfect ninth. Carl Crawford had a hit, two walks, a stolen base and scored the Rays' second run. Akinori Iwamura had three hits and scored a run and Jason Bartlett added two hits for Tampa. Saunders (6-1) settled down after a rough start after walking four in the first two frames. He tossed six innings allowing one run on four hits, and also walked four and struck out three while collecting his first loss of the season. Los Angeles dropped its third straight contest after winning four straight. Gary Matthews Jr. had a double and two walks and Erick Aybar added a double for Los Angeles.

Kansas City, MO - Kevin Millar went 3-for-4, including a three-run home run, as the Baltimore Orioles outlasted the Kansas City Royals, 6-5, in a game that saw a one hour and 52 minute rain delay after the top of the first inning. Luis Hernandez and Melvin Mora collected two hits apiece for the Orioles, who have won three in a row on the heels of a five-game skid. Baltimore starter Garrett Olson (2-0) got the win after pitching 5 1/3 innings and only giving up three runs on eight hits. George Sherrill earned his 13th save of the year by giving up a hit and a run in the ninth. David DeJesus went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored twice for the Royals, who have lost three in a row and five of their last six. Esteban German had a pair of RBI and Billy Butler scored a run and knocked one in. K.C. starter Brett Tomko (1-4) took the loss after going 5 1/3 innings and giving up six runs on nine hits, while fanning eight.

Minneapolis, MN - Daisuke Matsuzaka threw seven solid innings, and the Boston Red Sox used four solo home runs to take a 5-2 win over Minnesota in the second of four games from the Metrodome. Matsuzaka (6-0) gave up two runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out seven for Boston, which has won two of three. Kevin Youkilis, Coco Crisp, Jed Lowrie and Mike Lowell each homered for the Red Sox. Lowrie, whose homer was his first career shot, and Youkilis, each added a double. Glen Perkins (0-1), who was called up from Triple-A to take the place of injured reliever Pat Neshek, took the loss after giving up three runs on nine hits in six-plus innings of work. He didn't walk a batter, and struck out three, but also gave up three homers. Brian Bass allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief for the Twins, who have lost two of three. Mike Lamb went 3-for-4 while Justin Morneau added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Arlington, TX - Milton Bradley went 2-for-2 with three runs batted in and two walks, as the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics, 6-4, in the middle contest of a three-game set. Josh Hamilton went 3-for-5 with a run scored and one batted in for the Rangers, who have won five in a row and nine of their last 11. Ian Kinsler and Michael Young both collected a pair of hits. Texas starter Kevin Millwood left the game after just two-thirds of an inning due to a strained groin. Millwood threw just 12 pitches before Josh Rupe came on in relief. Rupe (1-1) was credited with the win after he tossed three innings of relief, giving up just two runs -- one earned -- on five hits. Emil Brown and Bobby Crosby both had two hits for the A's, who have dropped two in a row on the heels of a four-game win streak. Frank Thomas added a two-RBI double in defeat. Dana Eveland (3-3) allowed three runs on six hits in six innings, and took the loss.

Seattle, WA - Brian Anderson hit a three-run home run as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Seattle Mariners, 8-4, in the second of a three-game set at Safeco Field. Carlos Quentin went 3-for-5 with three RBI while Nick Swisher added two hits and an RBI for the White Sox, who have won three straight and four of five. Javier Vazquez (4-3) got the win as he gave up four runs on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work. Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI and Jose Lopez drove in the other run for the Mariners, who have dropped five straight and 10 of 11 overall. Jarrod Washburn (2-5) got the loss as he gave up seven runs on eight hits in five innings of action.
